BALTHAZAR B and the BEATITUDES: I am the tide

Often these days, at a party or a bar, I hear some impossibly young waif tell me that she or he is a writer stroke photographer stroke graphic designer stroke part time waitress, oh and I also do some modeling on the side. I’m always left thinking, when do you find time to wash your pants? Or do the hoovering? Because, increasingly, in my world, there is a large segment of my brain taken up solely by lists of things I wish I could find the time to get round to.
I don’t think I’m alone in this and it’s mainly down to the increasing opportunities we have to express ourselves with affordable technology and the internet, its hard for us to concentrate on one thing at a time. I, like many people, romanticize the idea of the struggling artist but from one day to the next I’m not sure what I’m struggling with. One day I might try to write something, the next day try to work out what all the buttons do on my camera but with a full time job I never really get much done.
And that’s why this collection of songs has taken me a while to put together. It’s also why I’m so proud to have completed it and so eager for everybody to hear it. I will be opening for ‘The Pain of Being Pure at Heart’ on January 14th at the Maroquinerie in Paris and the album will be available around the same time.
